Three vehicles involved in serious crash south of Nelson

Emergency services are attending a serious crash on the Kawatiri-Murchison Highway in the south Tasman District.

A police spokesperson said the crash - reported just before 2.30pm - involved three vehicles.
The road is currently closed just north of Murchison and no detour is available at this stage.
A Nelson resident who was heading north at the time and was now stranded said traffic was backed up for several kilometres.
Police say motorists were advised to avoid the area, if possible.
